Introduction
The San Antonio Caballeros have announced the extension of camp try-out invitations to several standout Texas football players. The team is eager to add depth and talent to their roster ahead of their inaugural season.
Among the players invited are linebacker Benetton Fonua, offensive lineman Sidney Walker, defensive linemen Ja’Merez Bowen and Justin Alexandre, wide receiver Curtis Cuillard and defensive lineman Reggie Howard.
Benetton Fonua
Benetton Fonua is a rising star in the world of football, known for his expectational athleticism and aggressive playing style. A standout at the University of Hawaii, Fonua quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the field.
While at Hawaii, Fonua showcased his versatility by playing both middle and outside linebacker. His impressive speed, agility, and instincts allowed him to make plays all over the field. During his time at Hawaii, Fonua recorded 133 tackles, 80 solo tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 interception.
As a linebacker, he excels at both stopping the run and rushing the passer. While his career is still in its early stages, Fonua has shown immense potential and can become a dominate force in the IFA.
Sidney Walker
Sidney Walker is a reliable and experienced offensive lineman who has consistently proven his ability to protect the quarterback and open running lanes for his team.
Walker began his collegiate career at Kilgore College, where he gained valuable experience and honed his skills. He then transferred to the University of Connecticut, where he continued to impress coaches and teammates with his performance. Following his collegiate career, Walker joined the University at Buffalo Bulls as a graduate student. He played a key role on the offensive line, helping to protect the quarterback and open running lanes for the running backs.
Known for his strength, technique, and intelligence, Walker is a key contributor to any offensive unit. Walker’s consistent performance and leadership make him an asset to any offensive line.
Ja’Merez Bowen
Ja’Merez Bowen is a talented defensive lineman known for his explosive first step, quickness, and relentless pursuit of the quarterback. His ability to penetrate the offensive line and create havoc in the backfield makes him a nightmare for opposing offenses.
Bowen played collegiately the University of Indiana, started six times and played 12 games at defensive tackles. He finished his college career with 22 tackles, 15 solo tackles, 2 pass defended and half a sack.
Brown’s combination of athleticism, pass-rushing ability, and versatility makes him an asset to any defensive line. His potential for continued growth and development makes him a player to watch in the years to come.
Justin Alexandre
Justin Alexandre is a powerful and dynamic defensive end with a background of success in college and in professional leagues. Known for his athleticism and relentless pursuit of the quarterback, Alexandre has demonstrated a strong ability to impact games through both pass rushing and run defense.
Alexandre played his college football at the University of Incarnate Word where he finished with 76 tackles, 42 solo tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. His experience with the University of the Incarnate Word led him to be invited to the San Antonio Brahmas camp in 2023. He was subsequently released but signed on with the San Antonio Gunslingers of the National Arena League. His combination of athleticism, strength, and versatility makes him a valuable player in both pass-rushing and run-defense situations.
With ongoing development and focus on consistency, Alexandre has the potential to make significant contributions at a high level in professional football.
Curtis Cuillard
Curtis Cuillard is a skilled and versatile wide receiver known for his athleticism, route-running ability, and reliable hands. The epitome of a Swiss army knife, Cuillard played both sides of the ball at Southwest Baptist University. In 28 career games for the Bearcats, Cuillard recorded 134 receptions for 1697 yards and 16 touchdowns and on defense, he recorded 3 tackles.
With a solid college career and the potential to make an impact at the professional level, Cuillard stands out as a receiver who can contribute in various offensive schemes. His combination of size, speed, and agility makes him an asset to any receiving corps.
Curtis Culliard is a promising wide receiver with a solid blend of route-running precision, reliable hands, and athleticism. His ability to make plays both deep down the field and in short-yardage situations makes him an asset to any offensive scheme. With ongoing development in consistency and physical play, Cuillard has the potential to become a key contributor and playmaker in professional football.
Reggie Howard
Reggie Howard, Jr., is a dynamic defensive lineman known for his explosive first step and relentless pursuit of the quarterback. A versatile player capable of lining
up at both defensive tackle and defensive end, Howard has made a significant impact on the field throughout his career.
Howard’s collegiate career took place at the University of Toledo, where he quickly established himself as a dominant force in the MAC. His ability to penetrate the offensive line and disrupt plays in the backfield earned him recognition as one of the conference’s top defensive linemen. During his tenure, at Toledo he recorded 64 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. After his collegiate career, Howard joined the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League (USFL), where he continued to showcase his impressive athleticism and playmaking ability. His strong performance in the USFL caught the attention of other professional leagues, leading to a stint in the Indoor Football League. During his time in the USFL, Howard recorded 20 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Howard Jr. is a talented and versatile defensive lineman who has the potential to make a significant impact at the highest level of professional football. His combination of athleticism, quickness, and relentless motor make him an asset to any team.
