Introduction
The sun began to set in the desert of Nevada and the heroic Gunslingers plan to camp for the night. Before turning in and getting a well-deserved night’s sleep, they decide to hone their sharpshooting skills by engaging in a little target practice. The Gunslingers had a collection of birds in their bags that they regularly used for live target practice. One after another, they released the birds and without fail, they successfully hit each one of them. After feeling that they adequately sharpened their shooting, they camped for the night, ready to finish their travels to their destination of Sin City. When the sun rose the following morning, the Gunslingers left camp and as they were riding their mounts, they saw the results of their target practice from the night before. Laying scattered all around them, lay the bodies of the birds they were using: Knight Hawks.
It is Week 5 of the Indoor Football League (IFL), and the 0-2 San Antonio Gunslingers head to Sin City to take on the 2-0 Vegas Knight Hawks in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here’s what you need to know:
When?
Friday, April 12, 2024 @ 09:05pm CST.
Where?
Lee’s Family Forum, Henderson, Nevada.
Gameday Weather
The game will be played indoor obviously, but for those who are interested in tailgating, it’s looking to be a decent evening in San Antonio. The weather report says it should be 76 degrees, overcast, with a 12% chance of rain with 16 mile per hour winds.
History
This is the first matchup between the two clubs.
3 Keys to Victory
The defense needs to tighten things up. Against San Diego, it was the pass defense that struggled. Against Northern Arizona, it was the run defense. The defense has not put together a complete game and continues to be the weak link in the chan.
The running game needs to get going. Sam Castronova ran for 9 of the 10 yards the Gunslingers gained against the Wranglers. So far this year, the quarterback is the leading rusher, and this needs to change. San Antonio cannot continue to rely on the quarterback to run the ball.
Until the defense steps up and does what it needs to do, Sam Castronova will need to continue to carry the load.
Final Thoughts
The Gunslingers have started their journey in the IFL 0-2, narrowly losing both games. They and the fans are hungry for their first victory of the season. Their offense has been averaging over 50 points per game, but they are giving up even more points. The Vegas Knight Hawks, undefeated in this young season, have a fast-paced and high-scoring style of play. Their offense will pose a significant challenge for the Gunslingers’ porous defense. This game will surely be an electrifying clash between these two teams. Gunslinger fans, get ready for mind-blowing entertainment, is going to a real shootout!
